Landing page drop-off teardown: five leaks you can fix this week
After reviewing hundreds of funnels inside AnalyzeUser, these are the patterns we see over and over. Use this checklist to audit your own hero, copy, and form flow before buying more traffic.
Mismatch between ad promise and headline
If the ad or tweet promised a concrete outcome but the headline talks about your company, users bounce. Mirror the exact words that brought them here, then transition into your value proposition.
Too many form fields
Every extra field adds friction. Collect only the essentials up front, then enrich later. In our tests, removing “company size” increased demo requests by 22%.
Hidden above-the-fold CTAs
Heatmaps often show users never scroll. Make sure your primary CTA appears in the hero, nav, and midway through the page.
Lack of social proof near the CTA
A testimonial or logo row next to the button can reduce anxiety. When we added a short quote right beside the sign-up form, completion jumped 18%.
Slow hero load
Heavy animations and uncompressed videos cause First Contentful Paint to lag. Defer non-critical scripts and provide a static screenshot fallback for mobile visitors.
Metrics worth tracking
- Time to first interaction (hover or scroll) – should be <3 seconds.
- CTA visibility rate – % of sessions where the button enters the viewport.
- Form completion dropout – especially between first and second field.
